POLICE in Mutare are looking for five rowdy women who kidnapped and heavily assaulted a 20-year-old woman for having an affair with one of the accused's husband. The gang, led by Sara Zikiumo (24) is still at large and police are appealing to members of the public with information leading to their arrest to contact their nearest police station.
The kidnap happened on Sunday evening at a Mutare restaurant. Zikiumo allegedly approached the complainant at Masters Inn along Aerodrome Road around 5pm where she was buying some food.
The five forced her into a silver BMW vehicle which was being driven by Zikiumo and drove towards Murambi low-density suburb.
The four other accused followed behind in a Toyota Camry.
Upon approaching Umsasa Drive, the five stopped their cars and forced the complainant out of the vehicle and ordered her to sit down.
They took turns to assault her and proceeded to cut her hair with a scissors.
They accused her for having an affair with Zikiumo's husband. They took away her Blackberry cell-phone and forced her into the Toyota Camry and drove around town.
They later dumped her in Westlea low-density suburb. The complainant sustained injuries.
"Kidnap and assault are serious offences and we discourage people from taking the law into their own hands but should instead report any cases to police when they feel hard done," said the acting Manicaland provincial police spokesman, Assistant Inspector Enock Chishiri.
