Brother takes own life over gossip misunderstanding PDF Print E-mail

A CHIPINGE man last week took his own life after accusing his brother and friend of gossiping about him.

Tichaona Mandhlazi (28) struck his brother on the forehead with a log before he took a pesticide and later hanged himself.
Police confirmed the incident which happened in Baranda Village under Chief Mapungwana and has urged members of the public to solve their disputes amicably to avoid the unnecessary loss of lives.

"On January 23, Mandhlazi followed his young brother, Tapera (20) to a stream where he had gone to take a bath. Mandhlazi accused him and his friend, Lazarus Sithole (19) of gossiping about him. A misunderstanding arose which resulted in Mandhlazi picking up a log and striking  Tapera on the forehead once. He rushed home and took a bottle of a pesticide and drank it.
“ His sister, Fortunate Sithole saw Mandhlazi hanging on a mango tree behind their house," said acting Manicaland provincial police spokesman, Sergeant Muzondiwa Clean.-Manica Post
