By Ray Bande MUTARE Hall (formerly Queens Hall) will play host to the inaugural Miss 21st February Movement beauty pageant as part of the celebrations to mark President Robert Mugabe's 88th birthday.
The beauty contest will be held on February 24. Mutare will host this year's celebrations of the 21st February Movement celebrations and the main event has already been slated for Sakubva stadium on February 25. Head of the provincial entertainment committee, Lovemore Chibvura confirmed that a total of 20 contestants from all the country's provinces will compete in the beauty pageant.
Chibvura said the host province, Manicaland, will get models from the seven districts and then select the best two provincial who will represent the province in the final day. "We are going ahead with preparations for the Miss 21st February Movement beauty pageant. We are expecting to have a total of 20 participants from all the country's provinces. "This is the inaugural edition of the beauty contest so we are expecting to set the standards in terms of quality. This explains why we are going to have some district competitions which will culminate into a provincial contest where we will pick the best two contestants to represent the province.
"As the local entertainment committee, we are working closely with the national entertainment committee and there are various entertainment activities lined up for this year's 21st Movement celebrations. You might be aware that we are also going to have a musical gala after the main celebrations of the day. "Reputable musicians will take to the stage during the gala. “We might want to take this opportunity to urge all youths make a date and come join the nation in celebrating the life of a true revolutionary leader," he said.-Manica Post
