Weekender Correspondent THE Samaita Express frontman, Taruvinga Manjokota, fondly known as Sugar Sugar, will be in town this weekend to serenade music lovers at Dangamvura Hotel tomorrow (Saturday). In what will be his first show for this year, Manjokota promised his beloved Mutare fans a 'moment to remember'. Manjokota fell in love with the ever-appreciative Mutare fans after performing at the same venue four times in 2011. His fans have also fallen in love with the Mairosi hit-maker such that the venue is always packed to capacity whenever he performs. In an interview on Monday, the goat-bearded and hoarse-voiced Manjokota said he is improving with time like wine and is definitely going to prove that fact. Manjokota, who admits his music is inspired by the late veteran musician, Ketai Muchawaya, is a serious sungura contender especially with his heart- pounding heavy bass guitar. Some of Manjokota's familiar tracks include Mairosi and Ndinokuda. The Dangamvura Hotel spokesman, Taurai Sithole said lots of musicians are lined up for the venue this year. |
