THE Samaita Express frontman, Taruvinga Manjokota, fondly known as Sugar Sugar, will be in town this weekend to serenade music lovers at Dangamvura Hotel tomorrow (Saturday).

In what will be his first show for this year, Manjokota promised his beloved Mutare fans a 'moment to remember'. Manjokota fell in love with the ever-appreciative Mutare fans after performing at the same venue four times in 2011.

His fans have also fallen in love with the Mairosi hit-maker such that the venue is always packed to capacity whenever he performs. In an interview on Monday, the goat-bearded and hoarse-voiced Manjokota said he is improving with time like wine and is definitely going to prove that fact.
"Brother, Samaita Express is now a hot brand. Last year we left Mutare fans crying for more. I am glad to tell them that the whole entourage is geared up for the show as we prove our mettle again kumakomoyo. One thing I like about Mutare fans is that they appreciate what is good and that has worked as a motivation. As usual, they should expect a blend of oldies and new songs," he said.

Manjokota, who admits his music is inspired by the late veteran musician, Ketai Muchawaya, is a serious sungura contender especially with his heart- pounding heavy bass guitar. Some of Manjokota's familiar tracks include Mairosi and Ndinokuda. The Dangamvura Hotel spokesman, Taurai Sithole said lots of musicians are lined up for the venue this year.
"A lot of musicians are lined up for this year and I would like to thank Mutare music lovers for the support. As usual Sugar Sugar, as we have witnessed before, will leave fans crying for more," he said.-Manica Post
